Website Service

DASA MarComm and DASA Technology provide service for DASA department WordPress websites. Service is requested through ServiceNow. Please review the information and resources below before submitting a request.

Submit a Request

To submit a website service request, please submit a ServiceNow incident by sending a detailed email to dasa-tech-help@ncsu.edu. The DASA Technology Service Desk will then direct your request to the appropriate DASA Technology or MarComm team member so we can respond accordingly.

NC State Theme Workshops and Troubleshooting

New users should attend website workshops provided by University Communications and Marketing and the Office of Technology. These workshops are offered monthly via Zoom.

The Web Platforms and Documentation website provides in depth instructions for available blocks, NC State managed plugins and supported third party tools in the WordPress NC State Theme.

Auditing Your Website

To streamline auditing your website, the website audit automated Google Sheet uses a script to organize all published pages, posts and people profiles within your website into separate sheet tabs for reviewal.

The NC State Theme’s Content Audit Tools allow site editors to schedule reviews of their webpages.

Accessibility

NC State is committed to providing a barrier-free digital environment for all. Improving accessibility can also improve how your website shows up in search results. If you edit a WordPress website, take appropriate accessibility training, and please adhere to the following website accessibility basics:

  • Webpage Structure
    • Use headings in order. Don’t skip levels for visual styling
    • Use lists for grouped items
  • Images
    • Add meaningful alternative text to all images
    • Never use graphics or images with text
  • Links
    • Use descriptive link text (never use “click here” or similar phrases)
    • Ensure link purpose is clear from context
  • Tables
    • Include table headers
    • Keep tables simple when possible. For complex data, provide a caption or summary
