Marketing and Advertising

NC State marketing opportunities allow you to reach faculty, staff, students, alumni and beyond both on- and off-campus. The list below highlights popular resources available to the campus community.

Start here! We encourage you to start with a communications plan before you begin marketing your next event, program, service or product. Make a copy of this template to define your goals, audience, strategies, tactics and more to develop a successful campaign.

Need further assistance? To request a meeting to discuss strategy for a campaign, event, program, service or product, please submit a project request to the DASA MarComm team here. MarComm also provides design, writing, photo and video services.

Advertising Policies on Campus

Chalking, posters and temporary outdoors signs are permitted on campus only when they meet university requirements.

Billboard Digital Sign System

Billboard is a system for displaying digital signage on enabled digital screens across campus. It’s used to internally communicate a message, promotion or campaign.

All NC State unity IDs allow access to upload slides to the Billboard Community, which can be added to digital signs across the university by sign managers. To upload a slide, login and click the Community tab, then Add a Slide. Templates and file information can be found on the NC State Brand website here and on the DASA Intranet here.

Once your slide is uploaded to the community, it is available to all campus sign managers. If you would like to request your slide be shared with particular units, send an email to the support email listed on the Screen Locations webpage here and name the slide and corresponding locations you’re requesting.

Billboard space is available on screens throughout Talley and Witherspoon to display digital advertising for events that will be held in the student centers. Submit a request form.

Digital screen administrators have access to curate slides on the screens they manage. Members of the digitalsignage@lists.ncsu.edu Google Group receive daily emails with previews of all slides uploaded the previous day. To join the mailing list, send a blank email to digitalsignage+subscribe@lists.ncsu.edu.

Event Calendar

The NC State community has access to upload university related events to the NC State University calendar. Benefits of adding events to the calendar include greater visibility for your department’s programs, which can lead to higher attendance.

Simply log in with your Unity ID and submit an event. Events must be held on campus or involve NC State community members, and be open to all audiences (i.e. not exclusive to group or department members). Remember to add the Division of Academic and Student Affairs department within the event filters. Click here for instructions and click here for submission guidelines.

Calendar administrator access is available to select event posters within each department on an as needed basis. If you upload events throughout the year and are interested in admin access (includes features such as tags, hashtags and more), contact our team.

Mass Email

Multimedia

Take a multimedia approach and enhance your campaign with professional photos and videos. Select downloadable photos from NC State or DASA’s photo galleries, take photos or record video within your unit, or submit a photo or video request to DASA MarComm.

News

Reach the campus community with an impactful news story. Articles are published on DASA News and further distributed through University Newswire making them easy to find, share and republish across campus. Stories can be tagged to feed into websites throughout NC State and may be picked up for inclusion in e-newsletters, on social media and more.

Promotional Items

The use of the university’s trademarks on products or promotional items requires that the product be produced by a licensed vendor. NC State Trademark Licensing provides the list of pre-approved vendors licensed to use NC State trademarks on apparel, promotional items or other customized items. You can find approved vendors in MyPack Portal’s MarketPlace.

Residence Halls / University Housing

To reduce the use of paper, decrease touch-points and streamline the posting process, University Housing has transitioned to primarily using digital postings within our residential communities. University Housing will post paper posters or flyers in residence halls on a limited basis. Advertisements must be from an official NC State department or unit and sent via approval at least three weeks before the event date. Units must print and deliver the number of flyers needed for each residence hall.

Reach your audience through your department or unit’s social media accounts and expand your reach by tagging DASA’s accounts on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
