How can I use the wired network in my office?

To use the wired network in your office, you may be able to simply connect an Ethernet cable from your laptop (or dock) into the bottom right port on the network plate in your office.  If it does not work upon connection, you will need to place a ticket to start the process of activating your data port (if needed) and/or registering your device on the campus network. If the data port needs to be activated, there will be a charge which currently starts at $100 and will require approval from your department head. Please see ComTech’s Service Rates here:

If you have an IP phone in your office already, then the data port is already activated. You will still need to place a ticket to have the device you want to use on the wired network registered. Some users also use a docking station to allow for multiple monitors and a more permanent desk solution with their laptop. If you are having difficulty connecting through your phone or through your docking station, you can place a ticket to us by emailing dasa-tech-help@ncsu.edu
