JULY 29, 2022 – DASA Tech would like to remind all DASA faculty and staff that the NC State Office of Information Technology (OIT) has mandated all Windows computers receive a critical windows update by August 10th 2022.
We provided initial guidance on this process on July 1st and subsequently kicked off an automated upgrade process to help ease this transition for DASA faculty and staff. So far, only 35% of DASA computers have completed the automated upgrade.
Consequently, we strongly recommend that Windows laptop and desktop users check to see if they are upgraded by doing the following:
- Click on the Start menu.
- Type: winver
- Click the “winver Run Command” icon that appears.
- You should see Version 21H2 if your system has already been upgraded.
- Close the window.
If you see any other version of Windows, please follow these instructions to manually initiate the upgrade process for your computer(s).
Computers that have not been upgraded by August 10th, 2022, will be forced to upgrade sometime that week by OIT. We anticipate this upgrade will be significantly slower and potentially more disruptive to your work than if you choose to upgrade now using the provided instructions.
