VPN Upgrade Reminders
MARCH 13, 2024 – On March 6th, the Office of Information Technology announced that VPN software would be upgraded starting at 1 p.m. on March 20th. DASA Technology reached out to obtain additional details about this upgrade. Here is a summary of what you can expect:
- If you are logged into the VPN (Virtual Private Network) when the upgrade happens, you will remain connected.
- If you connect to the VPN after the upgrade, you will be prompted to upgrade your VPN software.
- OIT has assured us that this will not require administrative rights on your computers.
- The new name of the VPN software is “Cisco Secure Client.”
- The new icon will look like a black padlock with a green shackle.
In short, we do not anticipate significant issues during this upgrade. However, if you run into any issues with the upgrade after 1 p.m. on March 20th, please email dasa-tech-help@ncsu.edu for assistance.
