New RED System for COI & NOI Process

Research Enterprise Data System (RED)

The COI/NOI module of the Research Enterprise Data (RED) system launched on May 12, 2020.  All new Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosures and Notice of Intent (NOI) must now be submitted through RED.  The legacy COI system and NOI system are still accessible in read-only format for reference, review, and reporting.

COI Requirements

Requirements can be reviewed in REG 01.25.01 – Conflicts of Interest and Conflicts of Commitment.  The following groups are covered by this regulation:

  • All faculty (including emeritus faculty who are listed as an investigator on any sponsored project)
  • All non-faculty EHRA Professionals
  • Postdoctoral Scholars
  • Anyone paid from a sponsored project (including SHRA employees and Graduate Assistants)
  • Any research personnel engaged in the design, conduct, or reporting of a sponsored project (including part-time and temporary employees).

Conflicts of Interest must be reported annually, at the beginning of each academic year.  Email reminders will be sent when it is time to submit a disclosure for the new academic year, you must complete this process even if there are no COIs to report.  Additionally, changes that may require disclosure must be reported within 30 days.

NOI Requirements

Notice of Intent must be completed prior to engaging in external professional activity for pay.  All Faculty and EHRA professional staff who are planning to engage in external professional activity for pay must complete the NOI at least 10 days prior to the commencement of the external professional activity.
