State Health Plan “Clear Pricing” Information

The North Carolina State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees (“State Health Plan”) is currently working to establish its own health care provider network, along with a new approach in how providers are reimbursed for covered medical services.  The State Health Plan calls this new approach “Clear Pricing” and changes will be effective January 1, 2020.

As the media has reported, not all medical providers in North Carolina have decided on whether to participate in the State Health Plan’s new provider network.  The University of North Carolina system is monitoring developments closely and will provide updates, especially as we get closer to the January 1, 2020 implementation date.

Employees are encouraged to visit the State Health Plan site to review information about the “Clear Pricing” initiative. Please direct questions regarding these changes to hrsbenefits@ncsu.edu.
