Bio

Justin Hammond has 18 years of experience communicating and marketing the benefits of higher education experiences, including stops at Duke University and NC State University.

During his seven years at Duke, Justin led the marketing and communications functions for the Duke Eye Center and the Department of Ophthalmology in the Duke School of Medicine. There he developed integrated marketing campaigns to recruit students and grow the practices of medical providers. He started their social media programs, designed collateral, and worked closely with agencies for advertising buys across the southeast.

When Justin joined NC State in 2014, he was hired as the first director of marketing and communications for the newly-created Division of Academic and Student Affairs. He is now the assistant vice chancellor for strategic marketing and communications and has grown the marketing and communications department from a single-person shop to a team of ten professionals managing the marketing strategy, websites, graphic design, photography, videography, social media, and content marketing for a division of over 50 departments. His creative team creates hundreds of on-brand and on-message collateral and communications annually. In addition, he provides strategic communication and reputation management leadership for the division and university.

Justin is a 2004 graduate of NC State University with a B.S. in business management and a B.A. in communication and is currently enrolled at UNC-Chapel Hill in the Masters of Digital Communication program. Additionally, Justin has been awarded several Council for Advancement and Support of Education awards for his work at Duke and NC State.
