Meeting Free Mondays
The Division of Academic and Student Affairs is going meeting free on Mondays for the summer. During this time, Vice Chancellor and Dean Doneka Scott has asked the division asked to avoid scheduling 1:1s, internal meetings, unit meetings and other non-essential gatherings on Mondays between June 1 and July 31. Student appointments or external meetings should be attended as needed.
Scott said that a brief pause from regular meeting routines can significantly benefit employees’ work and overall well-being. Benefits of meeting free Mondays include more time for deep work, strategic planning and innovative thinking, promotion of alternative modes of collaboration such as asynchronous communication and collaborative document sharing; and focus on personal well-being and work-life balance.
Instead of normal Monday meeting schedules, faculty and staff are asked to prioritize individual tasks and projects, consider the necessity of meetings and explore alternative means of addressing issues.
