DASA Technology Has a New Look

DASA Technology Has A New Look

OCTOBER 18, 2022 – DASA Technology may look slightly different the next time you collaborate with us. There are familiar faces in new roles, some new faces, and the recent departure of Leah Sauerstrom, who took a position with UNC-Chapel Hill in their Office of Information Technology documentation team.

Jose De Los Santos Oliver is now our Audio/Visual Specialist supporting classrooms, labs, collaborative workspaces like conference rooms, and digital signage. Jose previously worked as a Service Desk Analyst. This is the first position within DASA Technology specifically dedicated to supporting the academic affairs mission of the division.

Rafi Abergel is the new Systems Administrator for DASA Technology. Rafi brings prior experience with the Israeli Defence Force as a systems admin and previously served as a Service Desk Analyst and our Device Configuration and Deployment specialist.

Regarding that prior role, Trent Schorey is now in the Device Configuration and Deployment Specialist position vacated by Rafi. This role may be “behind the scenes,” but it is responsible for software, updates, and configuration of all our computers within DASA to ensure they remain updated. Trent came to DASA with experience in CALS and has served as a Service Desk Analyst.

We are happy to welcome Harrison Whitaker to the role of Service Desk Analyst in DASA Technology beginning on November 21st, 2022. Harrison comes to us with experience at NC State in both CALS and, more recently, in CHASS.

That will leave two open positions on our service desk for which we are currently soliciting applications!

Any time there are departures, it’s an opportunity to review our current structure and how we serve the division. To that end, we are simplifying our structure and would like to extend congratulations to Doug Flowers, now our Assistant Director for Systems Operations. Doug’s team is responsible for our systems’ security, compliance, configuration, and management. Lisa Miles’ team will now be called the Service Operations team. It will include not only Jose’s new position but also the Service Desk operations and work provided for digital transformation, database management, and campus enterprise systems integration.

We plan to post the remaining open spot on our team as an IT Manager position reporting to Doug Flowers, overseeing the division’s device management, deployment, and endpoint automation efforts.

The new structure will take effect on November 28th, 2022. Strategic Partner assignments will remain unchanged until the new IT Manager position is filled. All current procedures for working with DASA Technology are unaffected by these administrative changes. Given how shorthanded the DASA Technology team will remain through the end of the calendar year, at least, we ask for everyone’s patience and grace as we work to address support, project, construction, and administrative needs across the division. We appreciate your support! It’s our New Year’s wish to have a fully staffed department, and we recognize this is a wish shared by more than a handful of units around DASA.
