Office Upgrade Coming in April 2022

Microsoft Office Upgrade Coming

April 4, 2022 – DASA Technology is pleased to announce the upgrade of all DASA computers from Office 2016 to the latest version of Office. The upgrade will begin on April 18th at 5 pm. Existing office users running macOS will receive Office 2019 while existing Windows users will receive Office 365. These two versions, though named differently, are equivalent.

NOTE: New macOS computer deployments will not come with Office automatically installed. Instead, new macOS users will be able to install Office 2019, if needed, from the Self Service application. This will be communicated during the computer deployment process.

This update will be automatically pushed to your computer, so no action will be required to receive the update. Microsoft Office documents will continue to open as they have in the past, but you will notice some graphic updates between Office 2016 and the latest version of Office on your computer. This is particularly true for the icons which have changed and more subtle elements within the applications themselves.

For most users, we anticipate that this update will be a seamless transition. If, however, you run into any technical issues during the upgrade, please email dasa-tech-help@ncsu.edu for assistance and we’ll be happy to help!
